INLINE recently completed the Aloha Community Library tenant improvement. This project is a remodel of an existing 9,350 SF space converted into a public library located in an existing shopping center in Aloha. The work included the demolition of existing walls, construction of a new restroom facility, and new partitions. Work also included mechanical, electrical, low-voltage, plumbing and new finishes for staff offices, work areas and reading rooms.

INLINE got involved with the Aloha library during the conceptual stage. Working closely with the owner and architect team, we spent many hours meeting and reviewing the new space they would move into. The new location is a well-used commercial shell space that was converted into a newly updated community library. Due to funding issues, we worked collaboratively with the architect and Owner to research different building materials that allowed large changes with lower costs than anticipated. Moving a library into a commercial space proved challenging when we found some fire life safety deficiencies in the existing space, which could have halted the project. Our team worked with the architect and found different options that he could take to the county to create a new design that provided the protection needed for the occupancy level, while being able to maintain the very tight budget. INLINE worked transparently and collaboratively with the architect and the owner group from the beginning to make this project viable.

During construction, INLINE employees volunteered time to help with replacing and repairing ceiling tiles. A few office staff members went out and measured, cut and dropped tiles where new ones were needed. Even one of the library employees helped out!  It was a great opportunity to help out the library since their funds were somewhat limited and INLINE employees learned a new skill.
